The main aim of a business succession plan is to ensure the survival of the business even after the death or critical illness of one of it’s key people.
The plan requires a disposal mechanism and a funding mechanism. It provides a terminating owner (or their estate) with an option to sell their interest in the business to the remaining owners, as well as a way for the remaining owner/s to purchase it.
